In a calibrated and measured operation avenging the massacre of Indian tourists in Kashmir a fortnight ago, Indian armed forces conducted precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), dismantling terror hubs of Lashkar-e-Taib and Jaish-e-Mohamed, two virulently anti-India terror outfits.
The operation was evocatively called ‘Operation Sindoor,’ in retaliation against the killing of 26 Hindu men on April 22 by Pakistan-based terrorists in Pahalgam, a scenic town in Kashmir, rendering two dozen women widows. Immediately after early morning strikes on May 7, the Indian Army said in a post on X “Justice is served. Jai Hind!”
In a statement, New Delhi stressed that that the operation was “measured and non-escalatory,” saying that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted. Sources said the strikes were carefully calibrated, with precision targeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi monitored the entire operation, sources said.
“India’s actions have been focused and precise. They were measured, responsible and designed to be non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted,” said the government. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution,” said the government in a terse statement.
“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.”
